Gartocharn lies above the south shores of Loch Lomond and is between Balloch and Drymen. The village has accommodation a good restaurant a garage and shops. There are good quiet B roads in this vicinity which is great for country walks and cycling.

There is a pathway known as the Aber Path which runs from Gartocharn to the Loch Lomond National Reserve view point at Net Bay on Loch Lomond.

The local churches of Gartocharn and Kilmaronock may be of interest to those who are looking for a sense of history of the area.

There is also a lovely walk up nearby Duncryne Hill which affords the visitor beautiful panoramic views of Loch Lomond and in particular the islands at the south end. This is an easy climb.
