On the east side of Loch Lomond, there is a road running from Drymen to Rowardennan through the village of Balmaha. This is an extremely popular spot for visitors to the area. The views are stunning and there are places to stay, restaurants and of course outdoor sports including sailing, fishing, and hill walking.

The west highland way also winds its way along the shore and hillside of the east of Loch Lomond. This brings many back packers to the area with campsites for those who want to sleep under canvas.

The pub at Rowardennan is a particular favourite for those passing through on foot or bike as well as for hill walkers who have come down from the heights of Ben Lomond. This part of the Loch Lomond National Park is very popular on hot summer weekends, particularly as it is only a short drive from Glasgow. There is little public transport other than occasional busses, and the loch side road can be very slow. However there are many places both near and around Balmaha and Rowardennan where you can park and enjoy the scenery. There is also a ferry service to some of the Loch Lomond Islands.

The ferry to the island of Inchmurrin runs from Arden which is not on this road. Arden is just of the main A85 road on the west of Loch Lomond between Balloch and Luss.
